KCT Kydex Holsters

IMG_2416We have all seen loads of Kydex holsters available in a plethora of styles but the new MOLLE-Link holster from Kinetic Concepts Tactical (KCT) really stands out. This holster uses a simple but highly effective and innovative design to allow the user to attach it to any MOLLE webbing. Tactical vests and belts, as well as shoulder bags and backpacks now come covered in this practical webbing and the KCT holster lets you place your pistol anywhere you like where the webbing is present, even upside down if that is your preference.

The holster itself is made from two solid sheets of Kydex to fit a range of compact and full sized handguns. Smaller handgun holsters attach using one row of webbing while larger handguns holsters use two for a more secure fit. The webbing is simply pinch fit to catch onto the built in tabs at the ends of the holster. The effect is a very sturdy hold with fast access. There are also grommets which can be used to install a lanyard or elastic loop for better handgun retention in the holster, for the more active types.

They also make IWB holsters. I have been using the Element II IWB holster with a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield for a month now. The belt clips are reversible so you can carry it as a waistband holsters as well which I find much more comfortable but less concealable. The basic shape of the holster is square and with a compact pistol like the Shield the ends actually stick out like two wings. I found this to be especially uncomfortable for IWN at the 2 or 3 O’clock positions. I mentioned to the Damian St.Parker, Co-Founder of Kinetic Concepts Tactical, and made the suggestion that these sides could be trimmed without a loss of strength and with an increase in comfort.

That was freakin' fast.

That was freakin’ fast.

Within an hour he sent me images of the changes made. This level of response is incredible and something you only get from smaller custom outfits that really cater to their customers. At the same time the holsters are very reasonably priced so kudos to KCT. To learn more please visit http://www.freewebstore.org/kctkydex.
