Why Guns N’ Tacos? Because Guns and Tacos was already taken. Also I write about what I like albeit truth be told I don’t limit myself to tacos. I am a full time “professional” freelance (meaning feral) gun writer and I have been since 2010. I mostly write for Harris Publications (Combat Handguns, Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement, Special Weapons for Military and Police, etc.) and NRA magazines including American Rifleman and Shooting Illustrated. I also freelance for other publications.
This means that I often get news and info directly from manufacturers first. I also get to test and review a lot of guns and gear as well as training classes etc. I am an NRA Certified Instructor in Pistol and Shotgun and a Range Safety Officer. I started shooting as a teenager with the Civilian Marksmanship Program and I was idiot enough to join the Army National Guard trying to keep the commies out of Maryland (we lost that battle).
I spent almost my entire adult life working in politics in Washington, D.C. and with very few exceptions the town is full of crooks. I am a bit slow so it only took me 20 years to figure that out. I regret my part in all of it. I did enjoy working for and causing trouble at the NRA. I guess I didn’t cause too much trouble since they still ask me to write the occasional article.
Oh and I wrote a book. Gun Digest Shooter’s Guide to Concealed Carry. Pre-order now before they sell out and become rare collectors’ items. Hopefully it won’t get me sued or anyone killed.
I recently sat down for an interview with NSSF here is “First Shots Featured Shooter—A Conversation with Jorge Amselle“
